The present invention relates to a process for producing a microcapsule composition comprising microcapsules with an average particle diameter of D4,3 of from 0.5 to 5 µm, comprising the steps of a) preparation of an oil-in-water emulsion comprising a monomer composition, hydrophobic core material, water, radical starter, inorganic protective colloid and polyalkylene glycol ether, where the monomer composition comprises 40 to 90% by weight of one or more monomers (monomers I) selected from C1-C24-alkyl esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, acrylic acid and methacrylic acid, 10 to 60% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers which has two, three, four or more ethylenically unsaturated radicals (monomers II) and 0 to 40% by weight of one or more other monomers (monomers III), in each case based on the total weight of the monomers, b) formation of the microcapsules by means of polymerization of the monomers in the oil-in-water emulsion obtained in step a) and c) optionally dewatering of the microcapsule dispersion obtained from b), the microcapsule composition obtainable according to this process, and also its use for producing thermoplastic moldings. |
