The invention relates to an adjusting device for positioning support surface segments of an operating table, comprising a four-bar linkage, by means of which a base element of the operating table and a support surface segment of a patient support surface of the operating table are connected. The four-bar linkage has a first guide bar, which is connected at the first end of the first guide bar to the base element in such a way that the first guide bar can be pivoted about a first pivot axis and is connected at the second end of the first guide bar to a first end of a coupler in such a way that the first guide bar can be pivoted about a second pivot axis parallel to the first pivot axis.
