The present invention relates to a pre-impregnated fiber material, particularly a ribbon-shaped material, including a fiber reinforcement impregnated by a thermoplastic polymer matrix. Said pre-impregnated fiber material contains, in the composition thereof: a) a thermoplastic matrix polymer having a Tg of > 40°C if amorphous and a Tf of > 150°C if semi-crystalline, b) a fiber reinforcement, c) at least one liquid crystal polymer as an additive in a content of from 0.1 to 50 wt% based on said polymer a), said additive being pre-mixable with said polymer a) and dispersed in said polymer matrix, and d) optionally, carbon filler dispersed homogeneously and uniformly in said matrix. The invention also relates to a specific method for preparing said material, particularly a ribbon-shaped material, calibrated for use in composite material manufacture. |
