VEHICLE INFRINGEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD A system for detection of a speeding vehicle or unregistered vehicle and penalising the driver of said vehicle, the system comprising: a speed sensor independent of the vehicle's speedometer-linked speed sensor for determining the instantaneous speed of the vehicle in real time; a control module comprising the processor adapted to receive said instantaneous speed of said vehicle from said speed sensor; a database accessible by said control module, said database comprising data regarding the local legally enforceable speed limit of a road upon which the vehicle is travelling; wherein said control module receives the instantaneous vehicle speed from said speed sensor and compares the instantaneous speed with the local enforceable speed limit, said control module adapted to display said instantaneous vehicle speed to said driver and two provides that driver with a visual and/or audible notification if said instantaneous vehicle speed exceeds the local enforceable speed limit, said control module further adapted to provide a warning signal to said driver if said instantaneous vehicle speed exceeds the local enforceable speed limit; a communications module adapted to receive commands from said control module, said communications module further adapted to communicate with an enforcement authority to communicate instantaneous vehicle data including the instantaneous vehicle speed to said enforcement authority thereby to enable said enforcement authority to issue a speeding infringement notice to said driver of said vehicle. lof 2 lool D3b 1gr1 Figue 1 |
