[Class 83 (iii)] An automatic single spindle turret lathe has an open frame consisting of two side box standards c, d and an upper beam e on which is guided for longitudinal movement a slide h provided with a turret i, a second longitudinal slide g being arranged on a support f below and to one side of the slide h so that cuttings from the upper tools do not fall on to the lower slide. In one form these cuttings may pass between the support f and the standard d but in a modification the support may connect the two standards as shown at f<1> in dotted lines. A transverse slide k may also be mounted on the beam e.</p> |
