A method is proposed for distributing software on a plurality of systems, comprising the following steps: determining a digital target fingerprint for a respective system class of a plurality of system classes; providing a software packet for the respective system class; detecting a digital actual fingerprint of a determined system of the plurality of systems; determining a difference between the detected digital actual fingerprint of the determined system and the determined digital target fingerprint of the system class assigned to the determined system; calculating a matching value from the determined difference; determining an installation decision for installing the software packet on the determined system, in accordance with the calculated matching value; and installing the software packet on the electronic components of the determined system, in accordance with the determined installation decision.
