The invention relates to a method for operating a panic lock (1), in which a building interior side spindle and a building exterior side spindle are provided which respectively interact with divided spindle-hole halves of a spindle hole (17), and in which the spindle-hole halves can be coupled using means (16, 16', 17), wherein the latch (6) and bolt (5) in the closed door leaf reach the locking position by means of a force accumulator, and an espagnolette slider (13) arranged in the main lock case (2) interacts with the bolt (5), and wherein a trigger (9) is assigned to the latch (6), which trigger, in the case of a closed door leaf and protruding latch (6), interacts in a triggering way with a frame part, by which means the latch (6) and the bolt (5, 7) lock. In order that a simple and efficient function selection of the panic lock can be carried out between automatic locking using the activated and deactivated external spindle, a slider (20) is provided which is displaceable by key activation via a lock cylinder and controls a latching mechanism (24, 23, 27) which holds the espagnolette slider (13) in an unlocked position, and applies the means (16, 16', 17) for coupling the spindle-hole halves. |
