<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a moving direction of an AF lens during focusing. <P>SOLUTION: When an ND filter 1021 is inserted on an optical axis, a controller 104 detects the edge of each color component and calculates a differential value of the edge strength of each color component.
