Provided is a bond coating powder (210) and method (400) of making. The method (400) includes providing (401) a powder (90) including a plurality of parent particles (100). The method (400) includes providing (403) a plurality of dispersoids (102). The method (400) includes mechanically alloying (405) the powder (90) and the plurality of dispersoids (102) at ambient temperature. Mechanical alloying (405) is operable to provide a selective occupation of the plurality of dispersoids (102) in a grain boundary area (104) of the plurality of parent particles (100) providing the bond coating powder (210). The plurality of dispersoids (102) occupy about 18 percent to about 30 percent of the grain boundary area (104) of the bond coating powder (210).
