A security booklet such as a passport comprises a cover 1 foldable about an axis 5 and a set of page sheets 10A-10E stitched together using thread 13 along the axis about which they can be folded to define a set of pages. Each page sheet is formed of a single fibrous sheet such as paper. One part 10A1 of one of the page sheets 10A laterally offset from the axis is adhered to the cover, while another part 10A2 of the said one page sheet can be folded separately from the cover and the other pages about the axis. Page sheet 10B may be a personalised page sheet having data or bio-data relating to the passport holder. The one page sheet 10A may be formed in a concertina fashion (see figure 3). The booklet may be provided with an electronic chip and antenna (30, Fig.2) and/or electromagnetic screening elements.
