PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal for meter reading capable of accurately reading information on a measurement meter.SOLUTION: A portable terminal for meter reading 10 includes: a camera unit 12 for acquiring image data of a meter; a storage unit 14 for storing specification information on the meter and arrangement information on an arrangement of meter reading information in the meter; a character recognition unit 20 for recognizing character information from the image data; a measurement meter specification identification unit 22 for identifying a meter specification on the basis of the character information; an arrangement information selection unit 26 for selecting the arrangement information corresponding to the identified meter specification from the storage unit 14; and a meter reading information identification unit 28 for superimposing the selected arrangement information on the image data to identify an area of the meter reading information in the image data. Therefore, the character recognition unit 20 is capable of accurately reading information on the meter by recognizing the character information in the area identified by the meter reading information identification unit 28. |
