PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a red phosphorus-based flame retardant of high stability, applicable for use for a film/tape and a thin-walled electric wire coating material; a method for producing the red phosphorus-based flame retardant with satisfactory reproducibility, free from a problem in workability; a flame-retardant resin composition using the red phosphorus-based flame retardant; and the film/tape and the thin-walled electric wire coating material enhanced in an appearance, using the flame-retardant resin composition.SOLUTION: The red phosphorus-based flame retardant for the film/tape and the thin-walled electric wire coating material is obtained by applying surface-modifying treatment to fine powdery red phosphorus obtained by conducting a thermal conversion reaction of yellow phosphorus in the presence of a dispersant, and has 7 μm or less of average particle size, 80 mass% or more thereof is constituted of particles having 10 μm or less of particle size. |
