摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in a prior art that optimal compensation cannot be performed and compensation performance is decreased because it takes time to calculate device surplus capacity and the like and switching is delayed at the time of compensating reactive power having steep variation.SOLUTION: In a control method for controlling a reactive power compensator which is connected to a power system in order to suppress a voltage flicker generated due to reactive power of a load in the power system in which an electric furnace having an electrode subjected to elevation control in accordance with a furnace state exists as a load, reactive power of the load is detected by separating it into a reactive power component which varies steeply and a reactive power component which varies relatively slowly, not only the reactive power component which varies steeply but also all or part of the reactive power component which varies relatively slowly are compensated at the normal time, and in a case in which a speed command value of the electrode calculated for the elevation control of the electrode of the electric furnace exceeds a predetermined limit value, reactive power to be compensated is switched so that only the reactive power component which varies steeply is compensated for a certain period of time.
