The invention relates to a vehicle seat with a seat part and a backrest (1) which can be folded from a substantially upright use position (I) into a substantially horizontal non-use position (II) under the action of a spring device (3). According to the invention, in the use position (I), the spring device (3) has a first preloading, by means of which the backrest (1), upon release, can be folded into the non-use position (II), wherein the spring device (3) is relaxed during the folding forward of the backrest (1) until after a dead centre is exceeded and until said spring device strikes against a supporting arrangement (4) and, upon a further pivoting movement of the backrest (1) into the non-use position (II), builds up a torque directed counter to said pivoting movement. |
