1. An inserter for anchoring a bone anchor, comprising:
a driver assembly extending along a longitudinal axis and having a driver shaft and a distal engagement feature configured to engage a drive feature of the bone anchor; a receptacle that is coupled to the driver assembly such that the receptacle cannot rotate relative to the distal engagement feature, and that is configured to translate along the longitudinal axis relative to the bone anchor, wherein such translation causes the receptacle to deflect while the driver shaft does not translate along the longitudinal axis relative to the bone anchor; and a blade engagement member including a first elongate wing extension extending along a first length parallel to the longitudinal axis and a second elongate wing extension extending along a second length parallel to the longitudinal axis, the first elongate wing extension and the second elongate wing extension configured to slidably engage a retractor blade of a retractor assembly, wherein a plane that contains the first length and the second length is offset from the longitudinal axis.
