[Class 108 (i)] For securing trimming material or lining to a vehicle body or the like a strip, preferably metal, is provided with prongs projecting laterally and adapted to pierce the edges of the lining when the latter are thrust between the strip and the adjacent part of the body. As shown applied to securing a head lining 17 to the body side rails 14, the metal strip 18 is provided with an upper wall 18<a> and a lower wall 18b offsett at 19. Along the lower edge a flange 20 having prongs 21 is provided and apertures 22 and notches 23 are provided to accommodate the means securing the strip to the side rails 14. The latter are provided, by means of a member 13 welded thereto, with tacking strips 12 of wood, &c. and an upper vertical wall 10 having tongues 24, 25 which co-operate with the apertures 22 and notches 23 to secure the strip in position. A draught excluding strip 15 is tacked to the tacking strip 12 and the edge of the lining 17 is tucked up between the tacking strip 12 and the prongs 21, the latter engaging the lining edge and retaining it. The lower portion 18d of the strip may be pressed towards the side rails to force the prongs 21 into the tacking strip 12.</p> |
