A system (10) comprising a central controller (302) including a pump (20) for an air mattress having a firmness, a processor configured to control at least some logic sequences of the system, a computer memory and a pressure sensor configured to measure the firmness. The central controller further comprising an articulation controller (306) configured to adjust a foundation supporting the air mattress, a remote control configured to receive user input of commands to increase or decrease pressure of the air mattress and configured to receive input of commands to control the foundation, an external network device (310) and a bed network configured as a star topology with the central controller functioning as a hub and the articulation controller, the external network device, and the remote control functioning as spokes. The bed network is configured to facilitate communication between i) elements of the central controller and the remote control, and between ii) elements of the central controller and the articulation controller. The bed network further including another network configured to facilitate communication between the external network device and an external server. |
