A method (S1-S4) is used to operate a camera (K1, K2) of a household appliance (F), wherein in the method the camera (K1, K2) is calibrated (S1) when a door (T) of the household appliance (F) is opened, a trigger signal for triggering the camera (K1, K2) is output (S3) at a predetermined angular position (φ) of the door (T) and in response to the trigger signal the camera (K1, K2) captures (S4) at least one image without a colour matching. A household device (F) is fitted with at least one camera (K1, K2) for capturing at least one image from at least one part of an inner space (T, A) of the household appliance (F), wherein the household appliance (F) is configured to operate at least one camera (K1, K2) according to the method. The invention can be particularly advantageously applied to refrigerators. |
