460,704. Optical-projection apparatus. SASSOLI, M. April 29, 1935, No. 12755. Convention date, April 3. [Class 97 (i)] Apparatus for projecting images alternately from each of two rows of images on a film, comprises a lens system and a lamp for each image row, the lamps being alternately lighted and extinguished by means actuated in conjunction with the film feed to effect the projection ; corresponding images in the two rows are of the same objects in different positions so as to produce the effect of movement in the projected image. In the apparatus shown, the film is fed horizontally, by a toothed roller 16, across exposure apertures 7, 9 placed between projection lenses 2, 3 and lamps 11, 13 backed by angular reflectors 12, 14. Feeding is effected by clockwork mechanism 17 when a lever 5 frees a pawl 19 ; during feeding, the pawl 19 continues to contact with the lever 5, and the lever engages an extension of a contact plate 22. The lamp holders 11, 13 have electrical connection with a contact plate 22 through the aperture plate 6 and an arm 22b, and arms 10, 10 engaging the other poles of the lamps are electrically connected to the contact plate 22 through arms 21, 21, alternatively engaging cams 23, 24, through the clockwork mechanism 17, and through the pawl 19 and lever 5 ; the contact plates 22, 22 engage the poles of a dry battery in the base of the apparatus, or of a transformer fed from the mains. The casing 1 is electrically nonconducting and has a detachable cover 1 which may serve as a light reflector. A partition 8 is provided in the projection chamber, and a frosted glass screen 20 is arranged in front of the lamps. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the film may have more than two rows of images, each having a separate source of illumination. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
