Provided are devices and a method wherein cache processing is executed in a reception device in units of applications or units of presentation units, thereby enabling application execution processing with a high degree of completeness. A reception device receives from a transmission device an application size, which is the data size of an application, and signaling data, which records application link information and the data size for each presentation unit (PU), which is a constituent element of the application. The reception device compares a cache size and the data size of application and each PU, selects a cacheable application or PUs as data for caching, and executes cache processing in units of applications or units of PUs.
