a display panel which displays an image with light, the display panel comprising a first display substrate and a second display substrate which faces the first display substrate; and a backlight unit which generates and provides the light to the display panel, wherein the first display substrate comprises:
a base substrate in which a groove is recessed from a first surface of the base substrate;a light converting layer in the groove; anda protection layer overlapping the light converting layer in the groove and the first surface of the base substrate.
