This optical-scanning-type observation device (1) comprises: a laser emitter (3) for emitting a laser beam (L); an optical scanning unit (6) for irradiating a subject (S) with the laser beam (L) during scanning; a light detection unit (7) for detecting the reflected light (L') of the laser beam (L); and a control unit (13) for setting the detection delay time on the basis of the propagation delay time, which lasts from when the laser beam (L) is emitted from the laser emitter (3) to when the reflected light (L') is detected by the light detection unit (7), and controlling the laser emitter (3) and the light detection unit (7) so that once the laser beam (L) has been emitted by the laser emitter (3), the reflected light will be detected by the light detection unit (7) following the detection delay time. |
