This storage battery charging device is provided with: a charging unit which charges a storage battery using electric power from a power grid; and a control unit which controls the charging of the charging unit to a set time period that is set within a time period during which the unit cost of electricity is cheaper than during the day. The control unit is provided with a plurality of charging modes including: a first charging mode which charges using a charging power determined in accordance with the specifications of the storage battery and the charging unit; and a second charging mode which charges using a charging power with which charging power losses in the storage battery and the charging unit are less than with the first charging mode. The control unit causes the charging unit to operate in accordance with one or a plurality of charging modes selected from the plurality of charging modes, in such a way that charging of the storage battery is completed by the end of the set time period.
