[Class 51 (ii)] Charges, agitating.-In a rotary water-cooled agitator for gas-producers of the kind comprising an horizontal arm 1 enclosing a pipe 6 for the supply of cooling water and having hollow stirring fingers 5 screwed into apertures in its under side, passage of the water through each finger 5 is ensured by the provision of a baffle plate 11 which fits into a slot 10 in a ring 9 mounted on the pipe 6. The plate 11 is held in position by the engagement with shoulders 12 thereon of the upper end 13 of the finger 5, a spring clip 16 being provided to support the plate while the finger is being screwed in. The plate 11 is made of thin brass and saw cuts may be provided to ensure shearing of the plate should it become jammed during unscrewing of the finger 5. |
