Provided is a technique for compensating for a disturbance in signal light due to fluctuation in the air, etc., without increasing power consumption or heat generation in a communication device provided to a flight vehicle in midair. Specifically, a receiving-side splitter 4 that constitutes part of an optical communication device 1 splits a receiving-side signal light into a plurality of receiving-side signal lights at a splitting ratio that corresponds to the intensity distribution state of a plurality of mutually different propagation modes included in a receiving-side signal light that has passed through a transmission medium 3. A transmission-side splitter 10 splits a transmission-side signal light to be transmitted into a plurality of transmission-side signal lights. A signal processing device 5 detects the light intensity and/or the phase of a receiving-side signal light, and sets the value of a control target for the light intensity and/or the phase of a transmission-side signal light, as an attribute to be controlled, to a value that corresponds to the result of the detection. A modulator 9 adjusts the light intensity or the phase of a transmission-side signal light so that the light intensity or phase equals the set value. A synthesizer 8 synthesizes the plurality of transmission-side signal lights. |
