摘要 Systems and methods may be provided for determining whether or not to output the “decoded pictures yet to be output” (DPYTBO) after decoding a random access point (RAP) picture of the second of two consecutive coded video sequences in a bitstream. The DPYTBO pictures may reside in a portion of memory coupled to a video decoder. The portion of memory may correspond to the Decoder Picture Buffer (DPB) of the video decoder. The picture resolution in the bitstream is allowed to change only at the start of a CVS. The first coded picture in a coded video sequence (CVS) may be a RAP picture. The second CVS may or may not have a picture resolution that is different from the picture resolution corresponding to the first CVS.

A method comprising: receiving a bitstream containing a first coded video sequence (CVS) and an immediately subsequent second CVS both with a same fixed picture rate; decoding each picture of the first CVS in accordance with a first Sequence Parameter Set (SPS); after decoding the last picture of the first CVS decoding a first picture of the second CVS in accordance with a second Sequence Parameter Set (SPS) and activating a horizontal spatial span value and a vertical spatial span value corresponding to the first picture; storing each decoded picture of the bitstream in a respective frame buffer of Decoded Picture Buffer (DPB); inferring the value of a flag associated with the second CVS as a first value if the horizontal spatial span value or a vertical spatial span value corresponding to the first picture differs from a horizontal spatial span value or a vertical spatial span value respectively that corresponds to each of the first CVS; and responsive to the value of the flag being equal to the first value: emptying each frame buffer of a Decoded Picture Buffer (DPB) storing a respective decoded picture of the first CVS,storing the decoded first picture of the second CVS in a frame buffer of the DPB, andoutputting the first picture after the latest output time of any decoded picture of the first CVS corresponding to a respective emptied frame buffer of the DPB.
