462,865. Hinges. EVERED & CO., Ltd., and MITCHELL, J. G. Jan. 17, 1936, No. 1512. [Class 65 (ii)] In a hinge allowing a door to open in either direction, of the kind comprising a member 4 fixed to the door, a member 5 fixed to the frame, and anintermediate member 6 hinged at one edge to the member 4, and at the other to the member 5, movement about both hinge axes simultaneously is prevented by spring-pressed members 8 carried by the fixed members 4, 5. In the form shown, the members 8 are in the form of slidable bolts entering a slot in the member 6, and in the closed position each member 8 is partially pressed back by engaging a stud 11 on the opposed member 4 or 5. When either member 4 or 5 rotates relatively to the member 6, the stud 11 of the former member is moved away to allow the bolt 8 of the member 4 or 5 which remains in contact with the member 6 to engage fully with the slot in the member 6, thus preventing separation of these members. Specification 396,889 is referred to, and the Provisional Specification describes a modification of the check device mentioned in that Specification to allow space for the provision of the looking means. |
