PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epithelium barrier function enhancer and a promoter for production of claudin-4 which are stable, comprise Saccharomyces cerevisiae or an extract thereof, and sufficiently exhibit excellent enhancing effect of an epithelium barrier function or promoting effect of claudin-4 production, and to provide a yeast and an extract thereof having the excellent enhancing effect of an epithelium barrier function and the promoting effect of claudin-4 production.SOLUTION: An epithelium barrier function enhancer comprises Saccharomyces cerevisiae or an extract thereof. A promoter for production of claudin-4 comprises Saccharomyces cerevisiae or an extract thereof. There is also provided Saccharomyces cerevisiae DNY004MR strain (accession number NITE P-1493) or DNY005MR strain (accession number NITE P-1494). |
