The present disclosure discloses a method, an apparatus and a terminal device for selecting a character. Wherein, the method includes the following steps: detecting whether a touch point of a touch screen operation for selecting a character falls into a text node; if the touch point does not fall into a text node, searching for a nearest text node to the touch point; taking a nearest character to the touch point, in the text node that has been searched out as a character selected by the touch point. In the present disclosure, if the touch point of the touch screen operation for selecting a character does not fall into a text node, by taking the nearest character to the touch point, in the searched text node as the character selected by the touch point, it may be realized that, even if the touch point does not fall on a character, the character selected by the touch screen operation may still be obtained, thereby repeated selecting operations may be avoided, so as to provide convenience for the user. |
