PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide document management for managing a recording medium and image data formed on the recording medium.SOLUTION: A document management system in an embodiment comprises: a management unit managing management information on an image formed on a recording medium so as to be associated with identification information that identifies the recording medium and that is printed with a decolorable colorant; an identification-information-image discrimination unit discriminating whether the recording medium comprises an identification information image based on the identification information before formation of the image; and an image forming apparatus provided with a first image forming unit that forms an image with the decolorable colorant and a second image forming unit that forms an image with the decolorable colorant, forming the image on the recording medium by means of the first image forming unit, and forming the management information on the image and the identification information image based on the identification information associated with the management information on the recording medium with the decolorable colorant by means of the second image forming unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
