Provided is a medium dispensing device which has: a pickup roller that dispenses a paper sheet-shaped medium, which has been inserted into a medium housing unit, to a conveyance unit; a bill press which generates a pressing force from the pickup roller to the medium by being arranged so as to oppose the pickup roller, and by pressing the medium to the pickup roller; and a control unit which alters the pressing force in accordance with the state of the medium. |
