A coloured stripe e may be placed immediately behind the bore c and may be seen by transmitted light only through that part of the bore which is filled with the colourless indicating liquid. f Is a differently coloured background. Alternatively a coloured stripe s, Fig. 3, masked from direct vision by the screen t, is reflected towards, the reading surface by the unfilled bore f. A stripe r of a contrasting colour may be seen through the part of the bore containing the liquid. |
