PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with improved visibility.SOLUTION: An image display device includes: (1) a white light source having a continuous emission spectrum; (2) an image display cell; (3) a polarizer placed closer to a viewing side than the image display cell; and (4) at least two sheets of scattering preventing films placed closer to the viewing side than the polarizer. The at least two sheets of scattering preventing films are oriented films, and one of the at least two sheets of scattering preventing films is a high retardation scattering preventing film having 3000 to 150000 nm retardation. The high retardation scattering preventing film is placed closer to a light source side than at least one of the remaining scattering preventing film(s) (viewing side scattering preventing film). |
