PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an iridium complex excellent in thermal stability and sublimability; and an organic electroluminescent element which uses the iridium complex as an organic electroluminescent element material and exhibits excellent luminous efficiency and emission lifetime, suppressed voltage increase at driving, and excellent temporal stability.SOLUTION: The iridium complex is represented by the specified general formula (1).
