PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for accurately predicting Tsunami.SOLUTION: A Tsunami prediction system includes; a Tsunami detection unit 24 which detects occurrence of Tsunami or quasi-Tsunami on the basis of a wave height Hacquired by a first wave height measuring device 1A; an arrival wave prediction unit 25 which computes an expected wave height H' and expected time of arrival t' at a location of a second wave height measuring device 1B on the basis of the wave height Hwhen a quasi-Tsunami is detected; a Tsunami verification system 26 by which a detected wave is determined to be Tsunami when a wave height Hacquired by the second wave height measuring device 1B at the expected time of arrival t' is greater than a threshold value Hobtained from the expected wave height H'; and a notification instruction unit 27 which, when quasi-Tsunami is detected, makes the system generate a primary alert signal followed by a primary alert-clear signal when the detected wave is determined to be not Tsunami by the Tsunami verification unit 26 or a secondary alert signal when the detected wave is determined to be Tsunami by the Tsunami verification unit 26 and, when Tsunami is detected, makes the system generate the secondary alert signal. |
