The selection of the value of the ampacity is obtained by initializing ampacity to a value (108), estimating probability of exceeding the distribution temperature (110), comparing the probability with limit value (112) and updating the ampacity value (116). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program downloadable from a communication network and/or recorded on a computer readable medium and/or executable by a processor comprising instructions for executing a method for monitoring a high-voltage electric current transmission line (2) a device for monitoring a high-voltage electric current transmission line.
