PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identification medium which presents different images due to difference in image contrast between when viewed through a right-hand circularly polarizing plate and when viewed through a left-hand circularly polarizing plate without having to provide a black underlayer, which allows for identifying authenticity of an article.SOLUTION: An identification medium, which can be provided on a specular surface for identification of authenticity, includes; a light reflective layer capable of reflecting either right circularly polarized light or left circularly polarized light in at least part of the visible light range and transmitting other circularly polarized light; and a depolarization absorption layer provided overlapping the light reflective layer. The depolarization absorption layer has an average transmittance of no more than 60% in the visible light range and has a depolarization degree of 0.3 to 0.7, inclusive. |
