The invention relates to a gearshift lever for a single-track or multi-track motor vehicle comprising a lever arm and at least one gearshift pedal. The invention further relates to a gearshift pedal for the gearshift lever of a single-track or multi-track motor vehicle. In order to prevent damage to footwear, and to be able to implement the gear change without great physical effort, according to the invention the gearshift pedal of the gearshift lever is fixed on the lever arm to be rotatable around the axial direction of the gearshift pedal. As a result, the gearshift pedal, for example on a motorcycle, can roll over the shoe during the gear change.
