This hoisting device brake for elevators comprises: an abutting plate (17) configured so as be able to reciprocate between an operating position at which a gap between an armature (11) and an electromagnetic field (13) is secured by the plate abutting a buffer member (16) during magnetic excitation of an electromagnetic coil (14) and a retracted position at which the armature (11) is in contact with the electromagnetic field (13); and an abutting plate driving mechanism (20) that binds the abutting plate (17) to the operating position or releases the abutting plate (17) from being bound to the operating position. |
