Electromechanical arm apparatus for spraying a material on a surface comprising at least one elongate member 1408 having a distal end and a proximal end; having at least one spray nozzle for spraying the material in a spray pattern, a ground-engaging member 1420 arranged to facilitate translational movement of the apparatus over a ground surface, and a camera 1406 at the distal end; wherein the camera is arranged to capture spray pattern images and is connected to a camera output for viewing images of the spray pattern from the proximal end of the elongate member. A control mechanism (2107,2108, Fig. 24) is arranged to control spray nozzle operation from the proximal end of the elongate member. The ground engaging member may comprise a support member of a smooth, low friction surfaced sled, ball or wheels. Rotation of the elongate member may engage a further member (1907, fig 19) with the ground to act as a fulcrum to aid steering a wheeled unit comprising a front and rear wheel-set (see figs. 21A-21C). The spray nozzle may be actuated through an arc by a motor (Fig.19) and the elongate member may be modular and telescopically extendable. |
