The subject matter disclosed herein relates to a system and method for acquiring signal received from satellite vehicles (SVs) in a satellite navigation system. In one example, although claimed subject matter is not so limited, information processed in acquiring a signal from a first SV may be used in acquiring a signal from a second SV.

1. A method comprising, at a mobile device:
measuring distances between a mobile device and a plurality of transmitters based, at least in part, on signals received from said plurality of transmitters at said mobile device; estimating distances between said mobile device and said plurality of transmitters at a common instance of time, at least in part, by combining a measurement of a distance between said mobile device and at least one of said plurality of transmitters with at least one previous measurement of said distance to provide an estimate of said distance; and transmitting said estimated distances from said mobile device to a location server.
