1. An apparatus comprising:
a transparent display unit including an emissive area and a transmissive area; a light control unit to adjust a transmittance of the transmissive area; and a controller on an integrated circuit, electrically connected to the transparent display unit and the light control unit, the controller to control a contrast ratio of the emissive area and the transmissive area on a basis of a target contrast ratio and a brightness of ambient light wherein the target contrast ratio is controlled by the controller using an equation:targetcontrastratio=X:1=Lmax+Lfront×Treflect+Lback×Tself×TvarLmin+Lfront×Treflect+Lback×Tself×Tvar:1 wherein X:1 is the target contrast ratio of the apparatus, and wherein Lmax is a maximum luminance of the apparatus, Lmin is a minimum luminance of the apparatus, Lfront is a luminance of light incident onto a front surface of the apparatus, Lback is a luminance of light incident onto a rear surface of the apparatus, Treflect is a light reflectivity of the apparatus, Tself is a self-transmittance of the apparatus, and Tvar is a light transmittance of the light control unit. |
