发明名称 Story development and sharing architecture: predictive data
摘要 A community of authors, readers and contributors interact with each other through a communication framework. The authors share creative works, such as fictional stories, for consumption by the readers and for commenting by the contributors. The readers may see successive drafts of the work as an author completes and revises the work. The contributors may provide comments or other contributions to assist the author. For example, the contributors may make suggestions about how to change the work or provide supplemental content, such as cover artwork, to the author. The author may recognize publicly contributors who provide helpful comments. The likelihood of an author completing a final draft of a work may be determined based on the author's activities regarding the work. The likelihood of a completed work being popular with readers may also be determined based on user interaction with a draft of the work.

主权项 1. A system for predicting a first likelihood that an author will complete a final draft of a work and for predicting a second likelihood that the work will be popular with readers, the system comprising: one or more processing units; a user-interface module, executable on the one or more processing units, configured to present the work to the readers; an author activity log configured to record: one or more events comprising at least one of posting of a new portion of the work, modifying the work, removing a portion of the work, reading a comment about the work, or posting a status message; anda completion number representing at least one of a first number of works for which the author has completed a final draft or an abandoned number representing a second number of works for which that the author did not complete a final draft; a reader activity log configured to record an interaction between a reader and the work, wherein the interaction between the reader and the work is one or more of reading part of the work, reading an entirety of the work, re-reading at least a portion of the work, marking the work as a favorite work, sharing the work with another person, or spending more than a threshold amount of time with the work; a prediction module configured to calculate a draft completion metric representing the first likelihood that the author will complete the final draft of the work, the draft completion metric based at least in part on the author activity log; a success-metric module configured to calculate a success metric for the work based at least in part on the reader activity log, the success metric increasing as a number of comments characterized as positive increases; and a notification service configured to notify the author of a change in the success metric, the change in the success metric being based at least partly on a change in the author activity log or the reader activity log.
