The present invention relates to a method for marking a metal substrate, including the following steps: depositing particles onto a metal substrate, thermally treating the particles deposited onto the metal substrate by applying electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength λ1, so as to at least partially melt said particles. The particles contain at least one luminescent marker and at least one absorber which is a compound which is absorbent at the wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation. The absorption capacity of the absorber is no lower than the absorption capacity of the marker at the wavelength λ1. |
