The invention discloses a silencing unit (12) for use in a gas turbomachinery (1) for reducing the noise generated by the gas turbomachinery (1). The silencing units (12) are disposable between an air supply unit (4) and a blower (6). The air supply unit (4) may be a cooler which supplies air to the blower (6). The silencing unit (12) includes a first aperture (24), capable of receiving a first volume of air. The silencing unit (12) further includes a second aperture (26), capable of releasing a second volume of air and an air flow duct (25) connecting the first aperture (24) and the second aperture (26). Further, the silencing unit (12) includes one or more layers of acoustic absorbing material (31) which absorbs the noise components from the volume of air entering the silencing unit (12). |
