Provided is a display device for driving liquid crystals using a laterally or obliquely generated electric field, wherein it is possible to ensure a contact area for a electroconductive connection. A transparent electrode layer 24 is formed on a surface of a facing substrate 22 on the side opposite where a liquid crystal 26 is disposed, the facing substrate 22 constituting part of a liquid crystal display panel 2. An electrode layer 4 is formed on the reverse side of a protection plate 1 disposed facing the facing substrate 22. An electroconductive substance 5 is disposed between the transparent electrode layer 24 and the electrode layer 4, so as to connect said layers. Connecting the electrode layer 4 formed on the protection layer 1, a casing 7, etc., to a GND connection part 6 provided to the peripheral region of the protection plate 1 will cause these components to be grounded. |
