[Class 140] [Also in Group XVII] A wrapping for commodities such as soap consists of transparent cellulosic material 7, such as that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Cellophane " decorated on its inner face with ink or paint 9 to simulate a printed or pictorial inner wrapping, the decoration having a covering of thermoplastic sealing material such as paraffin wax at least at the location of the joints of the completed wrapping to seal the joints by adhering to the decorated surface and the outer face of the cellulosic sheet. The thermoplastic material may be a coating on the decorated sheet or carried on a separate sheet, e.g. of waxed paper 13. The cellulosic sheet may have an exterior moistureproof coating of nitro-cellulose lacquer. The encircling band of thin card commonly used in packaging soap may be omitted and the central portion of the waxed paper sheet made heavier, for example, by pleating to form a treble thickness, is shown in the Figure. |
