1. A method of inhibiting proliferation of cancer cells in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a compound having the general formula: wherein: X is N; Y and Z are each independently O or S; and R1-R3 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalicyclic, aryl, heteroaryl, halo, hydroxy, alkoxy, aryloxy, thiohydroxy, thioalkoxy, thioaryloxy, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, cyano, nitro, azide, phosphonyl, phosphinyl, carbonyl, thiocarbonyl, urea, thiourea, O-carbamyl, N-carbamyl, O-thiocarbamyl, N-thiocarbamyl, C-amido, N-amido, C-carboxy, O-carboxy, sulfonamido, hydrazine and amino, or, alternatively, any two of R1-R4 form a five- or six-membered alicyclic or aromatic ring, thereby inhibiting said proliferation of cancer cells. |
