Abstract The present disclosure provides a component for a construction machine or min ing machine. The component comprises a working drum of a construction ma chine or mining machine for working off milled material and movable in a direc tion of advance. The working drum is provided with tools and arranged for rotat ing about a drum axis. The component further comprises a drum housing for the working drum. The drum housing comprises a housing shell that at least partially encloses the circumference of the working drum and having at least one inspec tion area. The drum housing also comprises an outer wall portion that is that is radially outside the housing shell. The component further comprises at least one monitoring device positioned at the outer wall portion and outside of the housing shell.
