Disclosed is a transport section (20) of a horizontal conveying device (22) having at least two transporters (26) which adjoin one another in a conveying direction (24) and which each have an endlessly circulating conveying element (32) between at least two spaced-apart deflection points (30), said conveying element (32) being formed by a flexible conveyor belt or by a multiplicity of members connected together in an articulated manner, and being guided, at least in the region of the deflection point (30) bordering the in each case other transporter (26), about a deflection edge (34) that is positionally fixed and/or secured to the machine with a defined deflection radius between a conveying section (36) having a support surface (38) for articles, piece goods or similar items (40) to be transported and a return section (42) arranged therebeneath. The deflection edge (34), which forms a guide for the conveying element (32) guided thereabove, is assigned a vibration generator (44) for producing high-frequency vibrations. A corresponding method is also disclosed.
